English First Language focuses on developing students’ ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and effectively. This course enhances skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Students engage with a variety of texts, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and drama, analyzing themes, structures, and language use. Emphasis is placed on understanding and interpreting texts, developing arguments, and expressing ideas coherently. Writing tasks range from creative compositions to formal essays, ensuring students can adapt their style and tone to different contexts. Speaking and listening activities foster confidence and competence in verbal communication. The course also hones critical thinking, enabling students to evaluate information and present well-reasoned opinions. By the end of the course, students are well-prepared for the IGCSE/GCSE examinations, equipped with the linguistic and analytical skills necessary for academic success and real-world communication.
